I have a lot of scrap steel to recycle?

I have alot of scrap steel to recycle and have not taken any to slavage yards before. I have everything from garage door panels to appliances. I was wondering if there was any special info people could give me. Is it worth my time to take it 70 miles round trip to a recycle salvage yard? Thanks!
